I've had a stroke and decided now is the time to pass along some bindery bits and pieces. I won't ship anywhere. You have to come get it. If you're in the Washington DC area or know somebody who is, read on. I'm not sure what I want price-wise. It's sad to see it go but it's time. My goal is to get these to somebody who's interested. Not free, but I'm flexible. I'd rather sell as a lot.

Triumph stack cutter. 12". Will cut a half ream. Well used but working.
Copy press. Cast iron, good shape. 10x16 platen, 4" daylight.
Embossing press. Small heated-chase C-frame press. Chase will hold maybe 3" of type.
Leather. All sorts. Not a whole lot of any one thing. Calf, goat, pig.
Book cloth. Several substantial rolls, hundreds of feet each.
Tools. Not much in the way of embossing but some knives and etc.
Type. Maybe 100 pounds. A dozen or more sizes/fonts. Some decorative. No brass - all is regular type-metal. Some leaf. Genuine and patent and some heat-set rolls.
Pantograph engraver. Hermes-type motorized with a few fonts, gravers, etc.
Small amounts of headbanding, cord, thread, etc. More stuff when I find it.
2 dozen sheets of binders board, more or less.

I live in Canada and it is too far to drive. Rolling Eyes

I wish you the best with the sale of your stuff and hope that you will find wonderful ways to spend the rest of your life: may it be long and happy!

I have enough projects to keep me busy for roughly the next hundred years. I had a fairly substantial book collection with some rather nice items. 1600s on up and even a few from the 1500s. I bought many cheaply 30 or 40 years ago in poor condition and restored them. Was hoping for some appreciation in value but that didn't really happen. The internet has taken much of the fun out of things. No more hunting through little hole-in-the-wall bookstores for forgotten gems. Just search, click and type in your credit card. I boxed up 70 cartons and sold them to a dealer. The fun of doing binding for myself has somehow evaporated since my stroke. As a paying job, I can earn more doing virtually anything else. Well, such is life.

Bob

Where are you? I live in Hughesville (southern Maryland).

You're a fair ways away. I'm near Brunswick, a bit West of Frederick. Probably a 2 hour drive. If you want my actual email/phone, send me a PM.

I know Brunswick well. We used to live in Lovettsville. Both my wife and I were members of the volunteer fire department and rescue squad there. The drive might be well worth it. Please email me at bookbums@inbox.com with your phone number (or I'll give you mine via email).
